Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 5, 2026

Who we are

WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org is a free public resource that helps homeowners research HVAC contractor ownership. We are operated by an individual based in Colorado, reachable at admin@WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org.

Data we collect

We collect data in two ways:

Information you provide

When you submit a research tip or contractor nomination, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and details about the company. This information is submitted voluntarily.

Analytics via Plausible and Google Analytics

This site uses Plausible Analytics for cookieless aggregate traffic measurement and Google Analytics 4 for pageview and interaction measurement. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers and may process information such as page paths, referrers, browser/device details, and approximate geographic information. We have disabled Google signals and ad personalization. We do not send search text, names, email addresses, phone numbers, or contractor submission content to analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you prefer that Plausible not count your visits, you can set plausible_ignore=true in your browser's localStorage.

How we use your data

We use the information you submit through research tips and nominations solely to review and improve ownership records. We do not share those submissions with listed contractors as part of a referral process.

We do not use your personal information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond reviewing your submission and responding when appropriate.

Who receives your data

If you submit a research tip or contractor nomination, the information may be transmitted via Resend (a transactional email service) to our administrative inbox. Resend processes email on our behalf as a service provider. Beyond that transmission, your personal information is not sold, rented, or disclosed to any other third party.

Data storage

We do not store submitted personal information in a public database. Research tips and nominations may be retained in our administrative inbox for correspondence and record-review purposes.

How long we keep your data

Because personal data may be transmitted by email rather than stored in a database, retention follows normal email practices. We do not proactively delete past correspondence on a fixed schedule, but we will delete emails referencing your information upon request (see below).

Your rights

Under the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, request deletion of that data, and opt out of any sale of your data (we do not sell personal data).

To exercise any of these rights, email us at admin@WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will respond within 45 days.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
