About these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org (the "Site") and its public ownership research service (the "Service"). By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Description of the service

WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org is a public ownership-research directory for HVAC companies in the markets currently listed on the Site (18 markets across the US and Ontario, Canada). Coverage is limited to those markets and may change. A company's listed location is not a guarantee that it serves a particular address. We review public records, company and investor materials, reporting, and submissions. Visitor submissions are reviewed before they can change a public listing. The match tool filters directory records; it does not assess project suitability, dispatch contractors, schedule service, or send homeowner contact details to companies. The former homeowner introduction form is closed to new requests.

Free to homeowners

Searching and reviewing the ownership directory is free and does not require an account. Donations and merchandise purchases are optional. If you choose either, checkout is handled by the named external provider and its own terms apply.

Ownership classifications and paid placement

A company's ownership classification is based on research, not payment or participation. The Site's public records do not identify a company-specific paid placement. Prior public copy described a referral fee for completed projects; the homeowner introduction form is retired. The Sponsorship and placement policy explains this history and the limits of available payment records. Payment does not determine an ownership classification.

No guarantee of contractor quality

WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org researches and reports ownership information. The Site does not certify or verify a contractor's licensing, insurance, workmanship, safety, or quality, and does not inspect past work or individual technicians.

Licensing and insurance requirements vary by jurisdiction. Check with the relevant licensing authority and insurer before hiring a contractor.

No guarantee of project outcomes

We make no representation or warranty that a company listed in the directory will complete a project to your satisfaction, on time, on budget, or in compliance with applicable codes. Any agreement you enter into with a contractor is solely between you and that contractor. WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org is not a party to that agreement and assumes no responsibility for its performance or outcome.

Accuracy of the ownership database

Ownership information is compiled from sources linked on individual records when available and is provided for informational purposes only. Ownership structures change. Some records may lack a recorded verification date or linked evidence; the Site identifies those gaps when known. We cannot guarantee that the information is current, complete, or free of errors. To request a correction, use the form on the relevant company listing or contact us at admin@WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damages for lost profits, property damage, personal injury, or dissatisfaction with contractor work, arising out of or related to your use of the Site or the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these terms or the Service shall not exceed fifty dollars ($50.00).

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Site or Service to submit false or misleading research tips, scrape or harvest the ownership database for commercial purposes without permission, or interfere with the Site's operation in any way.

Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Colorado.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
