Terms of Service

Effective date: July 17, 2026

About these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org (the "Site") and its public ownership research service (the "Service"). By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Description of the service

WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org is a free public resource that helps homeowners research HVAC contractor ownership in the markets we cover. We maintain an ownership database sourced from public records, corporate filings, company disclosures, and community tips. Homeowners choose whether to contact contractors directly.

Free to homeowners

The Service is entirely free for homeowners. You will never be charged a fee to search the ownership database or review its research. There is no account required, and no payment information is collected from homeowners.

No referral fee model

The Site does not charge contractors referral fees for homeowner projects. A contractor’s inclusion in the ownership database is based on research, not on payment or participation.

Homeowners are not billed by the Site for using the ownership database.

No guarantee of contractor quality

WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org verifies contractor ownership status; that is, whether a company is independently owned, private equity-backed, or venture-backed. We do not license contractors, perform background checks on individual technicians, inspect past work, or guarantee workmanship, licensing compliance, insurance coverage, or any other aspect of contractor quality or professionalism.

We encourage homeowners to independently verify that any contractor holds the licenses and insurance required under Colorado law before work begins.

No guarantee of project outcomes

We make no representation or warranty that any contractor introduced through the Site will complete a project to your satisfaction, on time, on budget, or in compliance with applicable codes. Any agreement you enter into with a contractor is solely between you and that contractor. WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org is not a party to that agreement and assumes no responsibility for its performance or outcome.

Accuracy of the ownership database

Ownership information in our database is researched from public sources and is provided for informational purposes only. Ownership structures change. We cannot guarantee that the information is current, complete, or free of errors. If you believe a listing is inaccurate, please contact us at admin@WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WhoOwnsYourHVAC.org and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damages for lost profits, property damage, personal injury, or dissatisfaction with contractor work, arising out of or related to your use of the Site or the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these terms or the Service shall not exceed fifty dollars ($50.00).

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Site or Service to submit false or misleading research tips, scrape or harvest the ownership database for commercial purposes without permission, or interfere with the Site's operation in any way.

Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Colorado.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
